Bayelsa Guber: I Won’t Spill Blood To Retain My Office Because Every Life Is Important – Gov Diri

According to Vanguard, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has vowed that he will not spill blood in order to retain his office ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

He made the statement in Ogbolomabiri, after assessing the security situation in Bassambiri, Nembe Local Government Area of the state.

Recall it was reported that policemen of the Strategic Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team and other security agencies, on August 12 evaded Bassambiri community under the directive of the acting Inspector General of Police. Some persons suffered gunshot injuries as a result of the invasion.

The Governor, while addressing the displaced people of Bassambiri at Ogbolomabiri’s King Koko Square, he said that anyone who sacrifices the lives of citizens for personal political gain does not deserve to lead the state.

He said, “I will not spill blood to retain my office because every life is important. Those aspiring to become governor should not sacrifice any of you to achieve that goal.

“The issues in Bassambiri are either politics, chieftaincy, and economics. Any individual who wants oil companies benefit should not sacrifice others.”
