Ekiti NNPP supporters distance themselves from request for Kwankwaso's dismissal

According to Punch reports, Stakeholders of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Ekiti State have dissociated themselves from calls for the suspension of the party’s National Leader and 2023 presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, by some members.

The NNPP leaders said that the persons who called for the party leader’s suspension lacked such authority in a communique released on Monday following a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado Ekiti, the capital of the Ekiti State.

“We implore everyone to see the illegal call as a ploy to destabilise the party’s unity and harmony and take us back to the quashed failure of the past,” they said. Anyone claiming to speak for the Ekiti NNPP in support of such actions is not speaking for us; the NNPP in Ekiti State is not aware of them.

Fatomilola Oladosun, a candidate for governor in 2022, the three contenders for senator in the 2023 elections—Motunde Fajuyi (Central), Ade Ayeni (North), and Samuel Olofin (South)—as well as Prince Ade-Ajayi, the financial secretary for the South West Zonal—signed the statement.

According to the stakeholders, the state executives of the party in the state had been disbanded by the national headquarters under the direction of the interim chairman, Alhaji Abba Kawu-Ali.

“We now distance the NNPP branch in Ekiti State from such impolite and unlawful actions. Every one of these activities ought to be disregarded because the participants are neither authorised nor qualified to speak for the interests of the party’s constituents who are the actual members of Ekiti.

We hereby boldly state that the NNPP Ekiti State currently lacks a chairman to demand the resignation and suspension of Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, our beloved success icon and esteemed party national leader.

“No stakeholder or member of the Ekiti NNPP is associated with such unpopular, unacceptable, and self-serving actions by unhappy individuals who were either suspended or censured for their failings in one way or another.

They are adversaries of the future development being worked on for the party. Corruption is fighting back, according to the stakeholders.
