Bashir Ahmad shares why Nigeria will not be intervening in the politics crisis in Gabon

After the military coup in Gabon, Bashir Ahmad, the special assistant to former president Muhammadu Buhari on Media, has explained on social media why Nigeria will not participate in a similar coup in the African nation.

Remember that a group of military officers from Gabon recently announced that they have overthrown President Ali Bongo Ondimba’s government and have placed him under house arrest.

The officers claim to have nullified the election results that gave President Ali Bongo Ondimba another term in office and have also arrested one of his sons for treason. This announcement has raised concerns among Africans, including Bashir Ahmad.

In response to the military coup in Gabon, Bashir Ahmad took to his official Twitter account to urge Nigerians to remain calm. He explained that Nigeria will not be getting involved in the political crisis in Gabon because Gabon is not a member of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), but rather a member of ECCAS (Economic Community of Central African States). As Nigeria is a leader in ECOWAS, they will not be intervening in this crisis.
