Tinubu Boasted That He Would Develop Nigeria's Economy Like Lagos, But This Was All A Scam- Atiku
The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has slammed President Tinubu, claiming that he scammed Nigerians by telling them that he would develop Nigeria’s economy like Lagos.
Speaking further, Atiku Abubakar made it known that statistics shows that over 70% of Lagos revenue comes from income tax paid by private companies which had been in Lagos for decades, due to Lagos State status as Nigeria’s former capital, noting that Tinubu’s only plan is to tax Nigerians to death as he did in Lagos.
Atiku Abubakar made this disclosure in a statement that was released by his Special Assistant on Public Communications to Atiku, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, while reacting to Bola Tinubu’s Plan To Pay ₦8,000 To 12 Million Households For 6 Months, Sahara Reporters reported.
He said: “Tinubu boasted that he would ‘develop Nigeria’s economy’ like that of Lagos but this was all a scam. Statistics show that over 70% of Lagos revenue comes from income tax paid by private companies which had been in Lagos for decades due to its status as Nigeria’s former capital. His only plan is to tax Nigerians to death as he did in Lagos and that is why the people of Lagos rejected him in the last election.”
Speaking further, he noted that Tinubu promised to turn Nigeria’s economy into a $1 trillion economy, noting that such can never be achieved with his brand of “agberonomics”.
Atiku Abubakar went further and described Tinubu’s plan to pay ₦8,000 to some Nigerians as a deliberate attempt to divert public funds, noting that Tinubu has been exposed as someone who knows nothing about economy.
In addition, the former Nigeria’s Vice President noted that Tinubu should have focused on putting money into the agricultural sector, subsidising production and working at attaining energy security if he was serious about reviving the nation’s economy.
