The Problem Of This Govt Is That It Makes Pronouncements Before Thinking Of Execution – Ohuegbe

Amid the ongoing public uproar surrounding Nigeria’s involvement in the faceoff between the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) and the military junta that seized power in the Niger Republic a few weeks ago, veteran journalist, and public affairs commentator, Chuks Ohuegbe has accused the Bola Tinubu administration of rushing to make pronouncements without thinking matters through.

Speaking during an interview on Africa Independent Television’s ‘Kaakaki’ program on Thursday, August 10, Ohuegbe, who is the Director of Publications at the Pilot paper, pointed out that the initial ultimatum and threat handed down by Tinubu, who is also the Chairman of ECOWAS, is another indication that certain pronouncements were not often thought through before being made by the present administration.

He said; “We should not dissipate so much energy on the crisis in Niger Republic. If you watch what is going on now, almost all the known voices in Nigeria have spoken out to say that it is in the best interest of our country to toe the diplomatic line. You know, the problem with this government is that it makes a pronouncement before it now begins to think of execution. Before they go about thinking how to set things in motion to meet what they have said. That is the problem of this administration.

You must think through something, and then take a decision on how to do what needs to be done. I think we were hasty in our pronouncements concerning the coup in Niger.”
