APC: Adamu removes his personal belongings from the secretariat office

According to The Sun, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), initiated the process of transferring his possessions from his office to the national party secretariat, thereby confirming his resignation.

Around noon, a scene of mild drama ensued in the party secretariat when National Secretary Iyiola Omisore hastily left, having been denied access to the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on arrival at the secretariat.

When Omisore was asked to comment on leaving the Secretariat, he merely told reporters that he would be meeting with National President Adamu to find out why he was conspicuously absent.

A reliable security source gave the Daily Sun an overview of what was happening at the Secretariat and informed it that the party’s Chief of Security (CSO) had originally been tasked with preventing Omisore from entering the Secretariat. However, Omisore asked the leaders for permission to enter, citing his proximity.

“The CSO’s appeal to the NWC members to allow Omisore access to the premises was granted, but they were unable to let him into his office or even into the meeting room. However, when he entered, he assessed the situation and decided to disappear from the Secretariat entirely,” explained a security source at party headquarters.

Interestingly, the national president further confirmed his resignation when he ordered his personal staff to remove his belongings from his office. At 1:30 p.m., his staff evaluated items such as washing utensils and portraits. Previously, his large portraits were removed from his office and meeting rooms and replaced with portraits of his deputy, Abubakar Kyari.

Meanwhile, NWC member and Assistant Secretary for National Organization, Nze Duru, confirmed Adamu’s resignation. Duru emphasized that he also expects Omisore to resign for the good of the party. Although he could not confirm whether Adamu would attend the meeting, he said the transition process is ongoing.

“It can be confirmed, yes, credible information, that the party leader has resigned as party leader and meetings are currently taking place.” I have no information about the resignation of the secretary. That is what is expected of him, and I also believe that as an experienced politician who has played at the highest level, he will always act in the interests of the party,” Duru said.

Assured Nigerians that the APC was a strong party with solid foundations, credible systems and leadership to advance to the next phase. Duru added that national vice-president North will take the chair as a player, while the post of party secretary will be appointed by the other faction.
