Anambra State Commissioner Health, Dr. Afam Ben Obidike says the state government through his ministry will deploy medical personnel and equipment to the Comprehensive Primary Health Centre (PHC), Anaku.

Dr. Obidike who said this during his visit to the hospital in Ayamelum Local Government Area (LGA) also inspected the abandoned Anaku General hospital which was under construction.

It is the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) that built this hospital together with the doctor’s quarters, it is a wonderful thing because there is need the hospital to be sited here.

So, we will do everything within our reach to make this hospital functional. You will be surprised to hear that this community has no functional Healthcare centre and that is why we are here to make it work.

The state government is calling collective efforts in the drive to achieve universal health coverage. We appeal to the well-meaning individuals in this community to help enroll their people in the state’s Health Insurance Agency.

Dr. Obidike while commending the hospital initiative noted that the facility will serve the people of the area and environs as there is no functional health facility in the area.

According to him, the administration of Gov. Charles Soludo is committed to ensuring that Ndi Anambra receive affordable and quality care from all the state owned health facilities.

This is one of the hard to reach areas that we are having measles and with the availability of this hospital, it will also enhance rapid and response to outbreak of diseases in the near future.

He expressed satisfaction that one of the two patients that tested positive to Monkey pox infection has recovered and discharged from the isolation centre while the other one is responding well and soon be discharged.

Dr Obidike explained that people that had contacts with them have been traced and none has symptoms of the disease, noting that the state surveillance team in the 21 LGAs were at alert and responsive.

The commissioner noted that the state government has sustained mass enlightenment of people on how to prevent the and other infections, adding that the state emergency response team has been living up to its expectations.

We are also reaching out to hospitals to have holding centres to isolate patients with symptoms of infectious diseases until the results of their tests confirm otherwise.

The retraining of medical personnel on how to respond to such cases has been sustained and thanks to Gov. Soludo and Ndi Anambra their continued support.

Earlier, the President General of Anaku Town Union, Mr Paul Nwuba expressed confidence in the prospects from Gov. Soludo’s led administration.

The commissioner also inspected two Primary Health centres at Igbariam and Anambra East LGAs.
