Many Nigerian youths now view Japan as their only chance to escape Nigeria’ s insecurity and economic collapse.

Japa is a Yoruba word that meaning to depart or flee, and it is currently used to characterize the mass emigration of talented young Nigerians seeking greener pastures abroad.

Amosun, an ally of APC presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, told BBC Yoruba that countries that provide Nigerians visas to boost their ” Japa” are wicked.

According to the former governor, countries who grant visas to Nigerian accountants, attorneys, and physicians do not consider the impact on Nigeria.

He stated, ” I am aware of it, and the reports are frightening. All of our kids and young talent are leaving Nigeria in search of greener pastures, and the prospective countries are knowingly granting them exit visas without taking the country of origin into account.

” What bothers me the most about all of this is the increase in emigration. Foreigners cannot fix our country for us if all of its citizens leave the country. I consider the countries that provide visas to our youths to be immoral because they do not regard the nation of origin from where their potential labor force is coming.
