Akpabio Rushes To Villa After Senate’s Rowdy Session During Keyamo’s Screening

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Monday, rushed to the Presidential Villa minutes after a rowdy session at the Senate over the screening of a ministerial nominee, Festus Keyamo.

Channels Television reported that, Akpabio was spotted at the Villa at 02:55pm.

Even though the Senate President’s schedule at the Villa was unknown at the time of publication, it might be related to a fight that broke out on the Senate floor on Monday afternnon.

A motion to suspend Keyamo’s ministerial screening was made by Senator Darlington Nwokocha of the Abia Central Senatorial District only moments before the Senate descended into chaos.

Nwokocha, who was clearly upset, charged Keyamo with insulting the 9th National Assembly and charging the previous Assembly with corruption.

Nwokocha claimed that Keyamo declined an offer to discuss a Special Public Works program while ex-President Muhammadu Buhari was in office.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, a senator from the Abia-South Senatorial District, seconded Nwokocha’s motion right away.

The motion was then put to a voice vote by the Senate President, but the senators couldn’t agree on it.

A boisterous session instantly broke out in the red chamber. Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele pushed for a closed-door meeting while the members were engaged in a heated disagreement, and Akpabio supported the motion.

Keyamo previously served as the ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s minister of state for labor and productivity.
