"Akpabio has taken Rubber-Stamping to a new level, he now wears a cap with Tinubu's logo–Maxi Okwu

Former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and public commentator, Maxi Okwu, has accused “Nigerian Senate President Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio of taking the concept of rubber-stamping to a new extreme level as he now wears a cap with Tinubu’s logo.” In an exclusive interview reported by The Daily Post paper, Okwu shared his concern about Akpabio’s role in the government.

Godswill Obot Akpabio, was previously the Governor of Akwa Ibom state and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, recently secured the position of Senate President. Overcoming opposition from Abdulaziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State, Akpabio now holds the top position in the Senate. According to Okwu, Akpabio has been taking actions that raise suspicions about his independence and commitment to representing the people’s interests.

Expressing his view on the matter, Okwu commented, “Akpabio has elevated rubber-stamping to a new level of endorsement. He’s even adopted a cap featuring Tinubu’s logo. During the screening of ministerial nominees, there was a situation where a candidate was facing potential rejection by the Senate. Akpabio then hastily adjourned the session, proceeding to the Presidential Villa with an extensive motorcade.” Okwu further criticized Akpabio’s election to the Senate Presidency, highlighting concerns about his background and ethics, suggesting that the process lacked transparency and integrity.

Maxi Okwu’s criticism extends beyond Akpabio’s actions, as he reflects on the current state of governance. He emphasized that the situation appears to be a continuation of issues faced during the Buhari administration, but with even greater challenges. The comments made by Okwu, as reported by The Daily Post paper on their verified Facebook page, have ignited discussions among Nigerians on social media, eliciting varied reactions regarding the state of the country’s political landscape and the role of key figures like Akpabio.

“Maxi Okwu has claimed that Godswill Akpabio has elevated rubber-stamping to a “new” level, even going so far as to don a cap featuring Tinubu’s logo.”
