Abducted University Lecturer Regains Freedom From Abductors

Mr. Shammah Yakubu, a lecturer at Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic in Lafia, Nasarawa State, who was kidnapped, has regained his freedom, the Nasarawa police command announced on Friday.

On Tuesday at around 8 p. m. while returning from work, the lecturer was abducted by gunmen. He is the institution’ s Consultancy Unit Director. Yakubu was released on Thursday about 6 p. m. , according to Rahman Nansel, a spokesperson for the State police who confirmed the report.

According to another source, the lecturer was transported to the hospital right away after being released. He is presently being treated.

Armed men forced their way into Lawal’ s house and kidnapped him somewhere unknown. Before taking out their target, the gunmen who stormed the state’ s Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area fired randomly.

The commissioner was freed as a result of persistent pressure from command officials on the gunmen, according to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state’ s police public relations officer, who spoke with our correspondent in Lafia on Friday.
