Bola Ahmed Tinubu Reveals why he was not Present at the Presidential Town Hall Debate.

Recall that Arise TV in collaboration with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) had few days ago, announced that a presidential town hall series on the topic, “Security and Economy” will be held today, with the likes of Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rabiu Kwankwaso revealed as the 2023 presidential candidates that will debate on such topic.

However while Labour Party and New Nigeria Peoples Party’s candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso respectively, were present in such debate, the likes of Atiku Abubakar and Bola Ahmed Tinubu chose to send their representatives.

And so, following the absence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in such meeting, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo in a letter directed to Arise TV and Nigerians, disclosed why his party’s 2023 presidential flag bearer was not present.

According to the lawyer, firstly, many radio stations and TV networks in Nigeria have indicated interests to host such debates and out of deference to other TV and radio stations, their candidate will not be making selective appearances in some networks, whilst ignoring others, adding that Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends on treating all persons and businesses fairly and equally.

Secondly, the busy and hectic campaign schedules of Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not permit him to honor all such invitations by different radio and TV stations, hence their decision for him not to start with one TV station and later ignore others.

Thirdly, the ruling APC party’s presidential candidate had long before now realised the importance of speaking directly to Nigerians and shortly after unfolding his Action Plan, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has embarked on series of town hall meetings, including the one he will be attending in Niger State tomorrow.

The presidential campaign council finally urged their party structures and supporters to keep organizing town hall meetings to educate Nigerians on the Action Plan of their candidate, adding that a grassroot-approach to reach Nigerians will also be more profound.
