My demolition of properties not a mission of vendetta

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday, declared that his policies on demolitions of buildings and retrieving government properties was not a mission of vendetta, but a sincere project geared towards developing Kano state.

The Governor, popularly known as Abba Gida Gida, insisted that he has no personal grudges against the immediate-past administration.

In a Statement released by his spokesperson, Hisham Habib, Yusuf challenged critics, to keep records of his work and judge him after he has finished his tenure.

The Governor wondered, why any one in power could take public property and convert it for personal use.

Tinubu returns to Abuja

President Bola Tinubu has returned to the nation’s capital Abuja on Sunday afternoon from Lagos, 13 days after he left to attend the Summit on New Global Financing Pact in Paris, France.

The President had returned to Lagos last Tuesday just in time to observe the Eid-el-Kabir festival in his home State.

Recall that while away from Abuja, President Tinubu participated in the New Global Financing Pact signing in Paris.

He left Paris for London, the United Kingdom (UK) on Saturday, June 24, on a private visit. He met with former President Muhammadu Buhari while in London.

FG rejects EU mission report on 2023 polls, says findings poorly-done desk job

The federal government has rejected the final report of the European Union (EU) election observation mission in Nigeria on the 2023 polls.

On Tuesday, the EU mission presented its report on the general election in Abuja.

Barry Andrews, the chief observer, said the report was based on the analysis of compliance with Nigeria’s regional and international commitments for democratic elections.

Andrews faulted INEC for the operational challenges and glitches experienced with the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) and the result viewing portal, saying the discrepancies severely damaged public confidence in the electoral body.

Bayelsa must align with FG to attract development, says APC chieftain

A chieftain of the opposition All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Preye Aganaba, has condemned the stagnant growth of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party, saying the state must join the ruling APC at the centre to speed up development.

Aganaba, who stated this while speaking as a guest on a live radio interview on Rhythm 94.7FM in Yenagoa, at the weekend, claimed that the state governor, Douye Diri, was confused and had shown an absolute lack of ideology to position Bayelsa on the path of growth and development.

According to him, the APC governorship candidate in the November 11 election, Timipre Sylva, was the only hope of the state to align with the centre and urged the people to take advantage of the opportunity.

The former governorship aspirant said Sylva possessed the capacity, experience and network to win the forthcoming polls and speed up the development of the state.
