I've 2 questions to ask those who are still angry because Tinubu and Shettima are Muslims-Baba-Ahmed

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) spokesman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, is said to have sent a message to those who are still upset about the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in an article that was published by the Punch paper online this morning.

In response to a question about how the country can eradicate the divisive religious tendencies in national politics, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed said it is a very complex issue that is made even more so by the calibre of politicians in the nation, who he claimed are at the lowest level we have ever experienced.

Despite the fact that the Nigerian constitution guarantees religious freedom, he said that Nigerians are not a secular people since both Christians and Muslims practise serious faiths, and both groups do not want outsiders to interfere with their practises.

If religion is so significant in our lives, why can’t we see it represented in government in some way? he asked. Why do a Christian governor and a Muslim governor both run their governments in the same manner? If you visit their states, you won’t notice a single variation in how their governments are administered. Visit and observe their inhabitants as well. How is it possible that both a Christian and a Muslim governor be corrupt? Since this is a secular nation, I feel more at ease as long as he doesn’t interfere with or have an impact on my beliefs.

“If you say Tinubu and Shettima are Muslims, I have two questions to ask those who are still angry because Tinubu and Shettima are Muslims,” he said. How many Christians are they going to convert to Islam, and how will that change how Christians live? is the first question I’ll put to them. It is not conceivable for them to use legislation to convert this nation to Islam. However, it is not how we go about things. Therefore, I believe that this is the kind of issue that is being discussed.

“That is why I say we decide what this country needs to be,” he said, speaking more briefly. Where is the location of trust, is the second query. I want my Muslim religion to be somehow represented in the way I am governed.
