Ernest Peremobowei, a 31- year- old grassroots footballer from Bayelsa State, is said to have passed away while attempting to rescue victims of a boat accident in the raging flood in the Bebelebiri Community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The body of the deceased person was found two days after the incident despite the fact that some of his body parts had apparently been consumed by fish in the river during that time.

Peremobowei, who was one of the three joint top scorers in the just- concluded Prosperity Cup, which was a local tournament organised by the Bayelsa State Government, met his untimely death while returning home in a canoe shortly after taking his wife and three children to a higher ground to escape the raging flood, according to information gathered by DAILY POST…………………………………………………….…..Continue Reading

 

 

 

Witnesses have reported that the canoe that was carrying him and six other people away from the coastline of the Federal Medical Center capsized as a result of the raging flood because the canoe was unable to withstand the current of the flood.

Kenneth Dreams, the head coach of Bebelebiri FC, the team for which the well- known footballer played in the most recent iteration of the competition, stated that the well- known footballer passed away while attempting to save the lives of other people who were trapped inside the canoe.
