Tinubu's Sole Strategy Is To Burden Nigerians With Excessive Taxes, Like He Did In Lagos — Atiku Abubakar

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the previous general elections, has accused Tinubu of deceiving the nation with his promise to transform Nigeria’s economy into a $1 trillion economy.

Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, expressed this view while responding to the government’s plan, led by President Bola Tinubu, to provide monthly financial support of N8,000 to 12 million households through the social safety net program.

According to The Sun paper, Atiku criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that their actions are part of a larger scheme to defraud the people. He highlighted that, based on the average household size in Nigeria, each individual would receive a meager amount of N1,600 per month or N53 per day, questioning its usefulness.

Atiku further claimed that Tinubu’s economic plan is unrealistic and accused him of burdening the Nigerian people with excessive taxes, as demonstrated during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. Atiku emphasized that the people of Lagos rejected Tinubu in the last election.

Rephrasing his words, “Tinubu’s sole strategy is to burden Nigerians with excessive taxes, similar to what he did in Lagos. This is the reason why people in Lagos rejected him during the previous election.

Despite promising to make Nigeria’s economy reach $1 trillion, it is merely a fraudulent scheme that cannot be accomplished with his flawed economic approach known as “agberonomics.”
