As the primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is fast approaching, all contenders are on the move to draw meaningful number of support to their credit.
Former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who won the 2019 presidential primary election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is confident that he would gather more voting capacity at the forthcoming 2023 primaries. On a clear view, most Nigerians see Atiku as the only one that may end up defeating Peter Obi at the primaries.
Peter Obi whose presidential ambition is coincidental with the call for Igbo presidency has gained massive support from the South and some parts of the North; having visited several States across the federation for consultations, here is what he did ahead of other aspirants.
From the information sourced from the verified Twitter handle of former Anambra State Governorship aspirant, Oseloka Obaze, it was gathered that Peter Obi summoned the PDP chairmen of the 36 States of the country in regards to his presidential ambition. Obaze shared pictures of the event and captioned it, “Peter Obi meeting with PDP chairmen from the 36 States.”
For the records, Peter Obi has become the first PDP 2023 presidential aspirant to summon the State chairmen. This could be an advantage to him at the primaries. The chances of drawing chain of supporters through the efforts of the chairmen is high at this time.
Observably, Peter Obi’s recent consultations have had so much focus on the Northern States. This is indeed another strategy to win the hearts of the Northerners, knowing very well that the voting capacity in the North is no where compared to that of the South.
If by any reason, an issue regarding to Igbo presidency was ever raised in the meeting with the 36 chairmen, I think Peter Obi would be in defense of that, and as well woo them into supporting him.
