2023: Osinbajo To Battle Tinubu, Amaechi Over Buhari’s Endorsement

The Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo has declared interest to run for the post of president succeeding his boss Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming general election. The Vice President declared interest on Monday morning during a television live broadcast.
Mr. Osinbajo, who is the incumbent Vice president of Nigeria, is already one of the preferred candidate to clinch the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It would be recalled that Mr. Osibanjo will contest for the APC presidential ticket with prominent politicians in the party like Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu who is the National leader of the APC.
Tinubu declared interest to run for president long time ago.
According to political analyst, Tinubu is believed to be the political godfather of Osibanjo, hence he single handedly picked him to be Buhari’ s deputy before the 2015 elections. It is further viewed that with Osinbajo’ s declaration, he is set to go the battle field with his political mentor which is seen as bitting the finger that fed him.
On the other hand, Rotimi Amaechi who is the current minister of transportation over the weekend declared his intention to he has joined the presidential race.
But from the look of things, it could be inferred that most of the people that have declared interest to run for the APC presidential ticket, most os them are close allies to Mr. President. Ranging from Prof. Osibanjo, Mr. Amaechi And Mr. Asiwaju Tinubu and host of others are the stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress right from 2015. Nevertheless, Mr. President as an elder statesman is believed that he would handle the situation with high sense of diplomacy.
In Osibanjo’ s words, Myself and Mr. President have ” worked through some of the most difficult times in the history of our Nigeria, but according to him, they have remained resolute in proffering solutions on securing the country, providing infrastructure and growing Nigeria’ s economy. ”
