LAGOS – Analysts have commended Pastor Tunde Bakare for his outspokenness against the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, saying that his views cannot be faulted as he spoke the truth about the current situation since the new government took off on May 29, 2023.

It would be recalled that the Lagos outspoken cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and presidential aspirant in the 2023 election, on Sunday, during his ‘State of the Nation Address’ in his church, The Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), formerly The Latter Rain Assembly (End-Time Church), tackled President Tinubu over some of his policies, which he said are anti-people.

Why Fuel Subsidy Removal, Other World Bank Recommendations Fail – MFC

LAGOS – The Movement For Fundamental Change (MFC), a civil society think tank, has said that the fuel subsidy removal and other World Bank-recommended programmes to Nigeria have consistently failed as predicted by the body.

In a statement issued on Saturday from its Lagos headquarters, titled, ‘Alhaji Bola Tinubu, World Bank And Subsidy Removal’, the MFC maintained that neo-liberal postulations of World Bank are inconsistent with Nigeria’s social-democratic culture and developmental agenda.

MFC, in the statement signed by Oloye Adegboyega Adeni, its Chairman, and Alhamdu Ayuba, a Senior Analyst of the group, recalled that in December 2016, Vice-President Osinbajo had said that “The downstream sector has been deregulated with the elimination of petroleum subsidy. This policy has removed from the government, a burden of not less than N15.4bn monthly.”
