"What Happened To Emefiele After Buhari Would Never Had Happened To Him Under Obasanjo" – Adibe

Nasarawa State University political science professor Jideofor Adibe has spoken out, claiming that President Tinubu’s new cabinet members will require the president’s political support in order to do their jobs and take calculated risks.

Prof. Adibe said the following in an interview airing tonight on Channels television….

The president must set the tone for the ministers to work, to be effective, and to take chances. You need to set an example as president. We anticipate that the president will have faith in his ministers’ ability to make choices on his behalf. Ministers will only take meaningful risks if they are certain of strong political support. If El Rufai had not had political cover from Obasanjo, he would not have been able to carry out the demolitions in Abuja while serving as minister. The situation is similar with Soludo’s bank merger.

None of them would have been published if Obasanjo hadn’t been such a force of nature. When compared to what has occurred under Buhari, it would appear that he will throw you under the bus if you criticise his policies too strongly. And we saw that in his approach to the new naira currency. When the pressure was really on Emefiele, nobody noticed that he had come out on public television and owned the company. Under Obasanjo, nothing like that will ever happen to Emefiele.

Here you may watch the entire interview. Beginning at 17:00
